STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN SYNTHETIC MARIJUANA CASE
On March 2, 2013, at approximately 2:40 p.m., members of the Troop D Quality of Life Task Force conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2002 Chrysler Voyager minivan bearing CT registration 217XPE.
During the traffic stop, consent to search was granted by the operator, Vipin Patel (DOB: 06/01/57), 112 Brown Ave Apt 7, Jewett City. During the motor vehicle search, approximately 21pounds of synthetic marijuana was located. The synthetic marijuana was individually packaged in 1,100 bags and was packaged for bulk sale. The estimated street value of the synthetic marijuana was approximately $16,000 dollars.
Personnel assigned to the Statewide Narcotics Task Force – East Office responded to the scene and assisted in the investigation. The operator, Vipin Patel, was arrested for possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Patel was processed and released on a $25,000 dollar non-surety bond and is to appear at GA 11 on 03/20/13 for the above charges.
