STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING SOMERS ARMED ROBBERY
On February 19, 2013, at 11:36 p.m., State Police from Troop C responded to a report of an armed robbery at the X-tra Mart at 169 Main Street in Somers.
Troop C received a 9-1-1 call from an employee of the Xtra-Mart. Troopers responded and initiated an investigation. The employee reported that two white males in their early twenties entered the store. The first male quickly advanced on the clerk, putting a knife to his throat. The male demanded the combination to the safe. The clerk stated he did not know the combination. The male suspect then directed the clerk to the cash register and demanded money while the other male acted as a lookout. The male then grabbed an unknown amount of cash and fled on foot towards Hall Hill Road in a northerly direction.
Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad responded and assumed the investigation. The scene was processed and evidence recovered.
The male with the knife was wearing blue jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt and white sneakers. The other male was wearing blue jeans, a dark coat and a red, black plaid winter hat. There were no injuries reported. The investigation is continuing.
State Police are asking for anyone who has any information regarding this robbery to call State Police at (860) 896-3200. All calls will be kept confidential.
