STATE POLICE MAKE COMPUTER CRIMES ARRESTS

 

   Troopers assigned to the Computer Crimes Investigation Unit have made several arrests of subjects who have been the target of criminal investigations. Each case was initiated by Troopers after developing information that led to investigators to obtain search warrants for evidence in each case. Troopers then continued each separate criminal investigation.  Troopers submitted an arrest warrant application in each separate case to Superior Court for the arrest of each accused. The arrest warrants were issued and the subjects were taken into custody processed and assigned court dates.  See summary below.

Arrested:  Joseph DosSantos (DOB: 11/22/71)

      53 Colonial Ridge Drive

      Gaylordsville (New Milford), CT

 

Charges:      

Criminal attempt at Impairing the Morals of a Minor, in violation of CGS 53a-49/53-21 (two counts);

Criminal attempt at Enticement of a Minor, in violation of C.G.S. 53a-49/53a-90a       

         

   The State Police Computer Crimes Unit concluded an investigation of  a 41-year old man  who had used a fake profile on the Internet to arrange a meeting for sex with a perceived minor-aged girl.  A search warrant was obtained for the search and seizure of electronic items at DosSantos’ residence to find additional evidence of this crime and other potential victims.  DosSantos admitted to using the internet to entice female minors and of using pictures of a friend to share with young girls.

   DosSantos posted a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at GA-18 on 2/18/13.

New Milford police assisted in this operation.

Arrested:   Brian J Hague (DOB: 5/25/1979

               38 S. Beechwood Road

      East Lyme, CT 06357

 

Charges:

C.G.S. – 53a-196d Possession of Child Pornography 1st degree

 

   During the months August - November 2011, the State Police Computer Crimes Unit was involved in an investigation into possession and distribution of child pornography through the use of internet file sharing networks. Accused Hague turned himself in to State Police at Troop E in Montville, on 02/04/2013. Hague posted a $50,000 court-set surety bond from Statewide Bail Bonds and is scheduled to be arraigned in New London Superior Court on Wednesday 02/20/2013 at G.A.-10.

Arrested:   James Scott Bacon (DOB: 06/06/51)

               437 Pumpkin Hill Road

               Ledyard, CT

 

Charges:  Possession of Child Pornography in the First Degree, 53a-196d       

                       

   In July of 2012, the State Police Computer Crime Unit initiated an investigation into the sharing of child pornography over the Internet.  Subsequent investigation traced the Internet activity to a residence located at 437 Pumpkin Hill Road, Ledyard, CT. 

   In October of 2012, the Computer Crime Unit and the Ledyard Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at 437 Pumpkin Hill Road, Ledyard, CT.  The search of the residence yielded several items of evidentiary value.  Troopers conducted an investigative preview of the seized items and located image and video files of suspected child pornography.

   On February 5, 2013, Bacon was arrested on an active arrest warrant issued by GA 10, New London Superior Court.  He was charged with Possession of Child Pornography in the First Degree in violation of section 53a-196d of the CT General Statutes.  Bacon was held on a court set $100,000 bond and was transported to GA-10.

Charges:  Possession of Child Pornography in the First Degree, 53a-196d

              Promoting a Minor in an Obscene Performance, 53a-196b

 

   On 02/05/13, members of the State Police Computer Crimes Unit served an arrest warrant for the accused and charged him with the above listed crimes. The investigation against the accused began in October of 2012 after videos of suspected child pornography were discovered as being shared from an Internet account assigned to the accused’s residence. In November of 2012, members of the CT State Police and Avon Police executed a search and seizure warrant at the accused’s residence and seized evidence related to the investigation. A preview of the evidence obtained as a result of the search warrant was conducted and videos of suspected child pornography were located. Vincente was held on a $300,000 bond and was presented at GA-14 in Hartford on the same day.

Possession of Child Pornography in the third degree, 53a-196f

                  

   On 02/05/13, members of the State Police Computer Crimes Unit served an arrest warrant for the accused and charged him with the above listed crimes.  The investigation against the accused was started in May of 2012 after videos of suspected child pornography were discovered as being shared from an Internet account assigned to the accused’s residence.

In September of 2012, members of the CT State Police and West Haven Police executed a search and seizure warrant at the accused’s residence and seized evidence related to the investigation. A preview of the evidence obtained as a result of the search warrant was conducted and evidence of the alleged crime(s) was located. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at GA-22 in Milford on 02/19/13.

Arrested:   Steven Anthony Cerasoli (DOB: 07/08/1956)

Charges:      

53a-196c Importation of Child Pornography

53a-196b Promoting a Minor in an Obscene Performance

 

   From December 2012 - February 2013, the State Police Computer Crimes Unit was involved in an investigation into possession and distribution of child pornography through the use of internet file sharing networks.  With Manchester Police and Enfield Police, investigators identified a suspect. During a search and seizure warrant, Cerasoli admitted to using internet file-sharing networks and searching for pornography. He also admitted to keeping handwritten logs and notes of websites which contained child pornographic images.

   The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) positively identified child victim images which Cerasoli had been sharing using his internet connection and his computer system. On 2/05/2013, Cerasoli was located at his residence and was taken into custody based on the strength of an outstanding arrest warrant.

   Cerasoli was processed and was released after posting a $50,000 surety bond set by the court. His court date is 02/19/2013 at G.A.-12, Manchester Superior Court.
