STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN SHELTON LARCENY, FORGERY CASE
January 23, 2013, 1330 hours
Accused: Sharon A. Scanlon (DOB 11/11/64)
23 Crescent Drive, Shelton, CT
Charges:
1. C.G.S. 53a-122 Larceny in the First Degree.
2. C.G.S. 53a-138 Fifty-Six (56) counts of Forgery in the First Degree.
On 08/23/2012, the Milford State’s Attorney’s office assigned the Connecticut State Police, Central District Major Crime Squad to conduct an investigation into the alleged crime of larceny that was committed at the Shelton City Hall, in Shelton.
After a lengthy investigation, it was determined that the accused (Sharon A. Scanlon) drafted fraudulent checks from the Shelton City Hall and deposited those fraudulent checks into her personal checking account via ATM at selected locations, over a ten year period.
The accused committed this crime of larceny while employed in the capacity as the Assistant Finance Director for the Shelton City Hall. As a result to an investigation the Central District Major Crime Squad has executed an arrest warrant for Sharon A. Scanlon for the charges of Larceny in the First Degree and 56 counts of Forgery in the First Degree.
On 01/23/13 at 1330 hours the accused (Sharon A. Scanlon) turned herself into the Connecticut State Police, Troop I, in Bethany, where she was arrested and processed without incident. The accused was then released on $100,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear at the Milford Superior Court, 14 West River St., Milford, CT on 02/05/13.
