STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN POMFRET ARMED ROBBERY
On 9/7/2012, at about 9:30 p.m., State Police at Troop D received a 911 call from the clerk on duty at the Xtra Mart Convenience Store, 19 Putnam Road, Pomfret, reporting a robbery.
Troopers from Troop D responded to the scene, secured it and conducted a search of the area for suspects and possible evidence. Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad were called to continue the criminal investigation and process the scene.
Detectives determined that at approximately 9:30 p.m., a male subject wearing a gray, long- sleeved hoodie, dark-colored ball cap and a cloth over his face, brandished a knife and approached the clerk in the store and demanded the cash. The clerk surrendered cash to the suspect, who then fled on foot in an easterly direction away from the store.
No one was injured and no other occupants were in the store. The suspect is described as a white male, late teens to early 20’s, approximately 5’10” tall, slim build, wearing a gray hoodie, dark ball cap with a logo on it, light colored cloth over his face, dark gloves and a backpack. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken in the robbery.
On 12/ 14/12, an arrest warrant was issued by the Danielson Superior Court to arrest Kevin Cornelison, age 27, of no certain address for the crimes of Robbery 1St Degree, Larceny 2nd Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 1St Degree regarding his involvement in the robbery.
On 01/09/2013, at 10:00 a.m., Kevin Cornelison was arrested at Danielson Superior Court on the outstanding warrant. He was processed at court and held on a $20,000 cash or surety bond pending arraignment later that day.
On 12/20/2012, Shannon Gilbert, age 25, of 604 Lainey Lane, Danielson, was arrested by warrant for her participation in the same case.
