FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 9, 2012

   On 12/08/12, at approximately 7:13 p.m., the New Fairfield Resident Trooper’s Office received a 911 call from Robert Bell, D.O.B. 04/26/49. 

   While inside his residence, Bell reported that he and his wife were involved in an altercation causing him to shoot her approximately four times.  Bell requested that ambulance and police personal respond to their residence located at 8 Hill Top Drive, New Fairfield.  Upon arrival, Resident State Troopers and New Fairfield Officers observed the victim, Svetlana Bell, D.O.B. 06/01/65, unresponsive on the kitchen floor with apparent gunshot wounds to her chest area.  Svetlana was transported to Danbury Hospital where she was pronounced dead at approximately 8:14 p.m.

   Troopers and Officers from the New Fairfield Resident Trooper’s Office secured the scene.  Members of the Western District Major Crime Squad responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. 

   Robert Bell was charged with:

   Manslaughter 1^st Degree with a Firearm, C.G.S. 53a-55a

   Disorderly Conduct, C.G.S. 53a-182

   Robert Bell is scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on 12/10/12 at 9:30 a.m.

   The State Police investigation is continuing.
