STATEWIDE NARCOTICS TASK FORCE ARRESTS TWO FOR CRACK COCAINE
On 12/06/12, at approximately 11:38 p.m., undercover Detectives from the Statewide Narcotics Task Force South Central Field Office were conducting surveillance of a known narcotics hot spot in New Haven at the corner of Beers Street and Chapel Street.
Detectives observed two males believed to be the main suppliers of the area get into a vehicle and attempt to drive off. Detectives along with New Haven Police uniformed officers stopped the vehicle and detained the suspects. Located inside the vehicle was approximately 160 grams (5.7 ounces) of crack cocaine, $337 in cash and a scale.
Arrested on-site for numerous narcotics related charges were:
Marlon Gonzalez, age 22, (DOB: 05/09/89) of 182 Ferry St., New Haven
Miguel Benitez Jr., age 20, (DOB: 01/06/92) of 250 Hallock St., New Haven
Both suspects were processed at NHPD and are held on $50,000 bonds and will appear in New Haven Superior Court on 12/7/12.
The Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Unit South Central Field Office is comprised of State Police Detectives as well as Officers from New Haven, Orange, Woodbridge, Cheshire and West Haven Police Departments.
