STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY IN SOMERS
Today at 4:43 p.m., State Police received a 911 call reporting an armed robbery at the Dzen Market at 103 Main St. in Somers stating they were just robbed by a woman brandishing a firearm. Troopers from the Somers Resident Trooper’s Office and Troop C responded to the scene.
Troopers searched the area utilizing K-9 teams and manpower. Troopers interviewed witnesses and gathered facts and circumstances regarding this robbery. Attempts to locate the suspect and vehicle were not successful. State Police Detectives also responded to assist in this investigation.
The caller stated an older white female (50-60 years old) entered the store and put her black patent-leather pocketbook with shiny silver rivets and clasps on the counter. The woman had straight shoulder-length dark hair, was 4’11” and 130 pounds, and was wearing a gray wool car coat, dark pants and black wool gloves.
The suspect pulled out a dark-colored handgun, pointed it at the victim, and demanded money. The female suspect left the store with an undetermined amount of cash and got into a small, gray-colored vehicle and fled in an unknown direction.
Witnesses were not able to see the vehicle direction of travel. State Police Detectives processed the scene and troopers conducted neighborhood canvasses to develop witnesses and information in this investigation. Area police departments in MA and CT advised of details of this case.
This case remains under investigation. State Police are asking anyone who might have seen anything suspicious in the area before or after this robbery to call State Police Troop C at (860) 896-3200. All calls will be kept confidential.
