     ** UPDATE **

STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE HOMICIDE IN BOZRAH; VICTIM IDENTIFIED 

 

   On September 25, 2012, at approximately 7:15 a.m. State Police at Troop K received a 911 call reporting that a male subject was seen lying in the Howard Memorial Field on Route 163 in Bozrah. 

   Troopers and EMS personnel responded to the scene and located a male subject as reported. EMS personnel pronounced the male subject deceased at the scene. The death appeared suspicious, therefore the area was secured as a crime scene by responding State Troopers.

 

   State Police Eastern District Major Crime Detectives responded to the scene to conduct the criminal investigation into this death.  Detectives processed the scene and interviewed potential witnesses. Troopers have identified of the deceased as DARIUS BISHOP, DOB: 1/20/84, a resident of Green Street in Norwich CT.

 

   A postmortem examination conducted by the Office of the Chief State's Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide by gunshot.

 

   The criminal investigation is continuing. State Police Detectives are following significant leads in this investigation.

 

   Anyone with any information or anyone who may have seen anything in the area of Howard Memorial Field is asked to contact State Police at 860-537-7500. All calls will be kept confidential.
