STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE NEW FAIRFIELD ASSAULT
On 09/25/2012, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the New Fairfield Resident State Trooper’s Office received a 911 call from a victim reporting an interrupted residential burglary and assault at a home on Newfane Road in New Fairfield. State Troopers and local Officers responded to the scene.
The initial investigation determined that an adult female had entered the residence and was confronted and assaulted by a lone male suspect who was believed to have already been inside the residence.
After the assault the suspect fled from the house in an unknown direction and manner of travel. The victim was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of her injuries as a search of the area for the suspect was conducted.
Troopers used K-9 teams and manpower to search for the suspect who was not immediately located. The State Police Western District Major Crime Detectives responded to this scene to initiate the criminal investigation. State Police Detectives processed the scene and recovered both physical and forensic evidence.
The suspect is described by the victim as follows: black male, medium complexion with no facial hair, brown eyes, approximately 30 years old, 5’9” to 6’0” tall, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, low rider blue jeans and black sneakers.
The State Police investigation is ongoing at this time. Detectives believe that this suspect was seen walking around the area about one week prior to this burglary and assault.
