STATE POLICE DETECTIVES MAKE ARREST IN SUSPICIOUS INFANT DEATH
On July 23, 2010, at approximately 3:40 p.m., the Quinnebaug Valley 911 Center received a 911 hang-up call from a residence at 136 Bear Hill Road in Killingly. Upon call back, dispatchers spoke to Logan Parker who reported that his 4-month-old son was having difficulty breathing and was barely awake.
The East Killingly Fire Department, KB Ambulance and QV Medics responded to the scene, along with the Killingly Resident Troopers and Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad. A four-month-old infant, Reed Parker, was transported to Day Kimball Hospital in distress. The child was subsequently transferred to U-MASS Medical Center in critical condition for further treatment.
Reed Parker was subsequently pronounced deceased on July 24, 2010, at U-MASS Medical Center. An autopsy was conducted at the Massachusetts Medical Examiner’s Office in Boston, with the death being ruled a homicide. Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad continued the investigation in conjunction with the Department of Children and Families, the Windham County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts Medical Examiner’s Office.
As a result of an extensive investigation, an arrest warrant was issued on September 5, 2012, for the arrest of Logan R. Parker, age 36, of 136 Bear Hill Road, Killingly, for the crimes of Manslaughter 1St degree, Assault 1St degree, and Risk of Injury to a Minor.
