STATE POLICE NARCOTICS TASK FORCE MAKES ARREST IN NEW HAVEN

On 08/01/12, State Police Detectives from the Statewide Narcotics Task Force, working in conjunction with the U.S. Postal Inspectors, intercepted two packages containing approximately 14 pounds of marijuana. The investigation enabled Detectives to obtain a search and seizure warrant from Superior Court to search the residence receiving the delivery.

Today 8/1/12, a controlled delivery was made to a residence located at 151 Dewitt Street in New Haven. The packages were delivered and accepted by Jacqueline Harrison (DOB: 11/6/67). When Harrison took the packages into the house, Narcotics Detectives, assisted by U.S. Postal Inspectors, executed the search warrant.

During the search, Detectives located and seized the packages, as well as numerous items of evidence relating to the knowledge of the package.  The criminal investigation revealed that the packages were for and addressed to Dwayne Singh (DOB: 12/03/87). The accused returned to the residence.

Singh was taken into custody without incident and charged with numerous marijuana charges as well as risk of injury to a minor.

The Department of Children and Families was contacted and a referral made due to the fact minors were located in the residence.

Accused was processed and held on bond.  He will appear in Superior Court GA #23 on 08/2/12.
