STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE SEXUAL ASSAULT IN DANIELSON
LOCATION: River overlook area at Rt.6 /Maple St. Danielson
On Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at approximately 3:40 a.m., State Police at Troop D received a 911 call reporting a female at the intersection of Route 6 and Katherine Avenue stating that she had just been sexually assaulted.
Troopers from Troop D responded to the scene. A female was located and transported to Day Kimball Hospital for treatment. Troopers searched the area and secured the crime scene at the river overlook area on Route 6 near Katherine Avenue in Danielson.
State Police Detectives responded to the scene and to the hospital to conduct this criminal investigation.
Troopers and Detectives determined that at about 3:30 a.m., the female was walking on Route 6 in Danielson near the Brooklyn Bridge. The victim heard cries for help coming from the river overlook area. She went to investigate and at that time was assaulted by a male subject. The suspect was dressed in black, with his face covered. After the assault, the suspect fled the area on foot. The suspect is described as a white male, 50 to 60 years old, approximately 5’9” tall, thin build, wearing dark clothing.
