Labor Day Weekend Sees Fewer Lifeguards on Duty at Connecticut State Parks Swimming Areas
  The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today reminded state residents and out of state visitors that the number of lifeguards at Connecticut state park swimming areas will be significantly reduced this coming weekend.

DEP Issues Revised General Permit for Management of Storm Water at Industrial Sites
  To achieve greater consistency with policies of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has revised the requirements for management of storm water runoff from industrial sites under its General Permit program.

DEP Approves Renewal of Water Discharge Permit Renewal for Millstone
  The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has approved the renewal of the water discharge permit for Millstone Power Station with requirements that the plant operator take steps to better protect aquatic life and conduct an assessment of alternatives to the current water cooling system.

Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection Forecasts Unhealthy Air Quality for Tuesday, August 31 through Thursday, September 2
  The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is forecasting unhealthy air quality due to elevated concentrations of ground-level ozone for Tuesday afternoon through Thursday for six of the seven counties in Connecticut: Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, Hartford, Tolland, and New London.

State Finds First EEE-Positive Mosquitoes in North Stonington
  The State Mosquito Management Program today announced that mosquitoes trapped in North Stonington on August 20 and 25, 2010 have tested positive for eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEE).

CT DEP Announces Black Rock and Wadsworth Falls Swimming Areas Remain Closed
  The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today announced that test results from the swimming area at Black Rock State Park preclude its reopening. Wadsworth Falls swimming area remains closed pending test results.

CT DEP Announces New Swim Area Closing
  The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced today that the swimming area at Black Rock State Park, Thomaston, is closed due to elevated levels of bacteria in the water as a result of recent heavy rains.
