Underground Storage Tank Petroleum Clean-Up Program

The EPA-approved Connecticut Underground Storage Tank (UST) Petroleum Clean-up Program enables owners and operators of federally regulated petroleum USTs (motor fuel, used oil, or heating oil for resale) to demonstrate financial responsibility and provides reimbursement to responsible parties and third parties for investigation and clean-up of releases or suspected releases from such USTs.  Heating oil USTs for onsite heating are ineligible for this program.

These webpages provide a simple guide to the UST Petroleum Clean-up Program and are not intended as a substitute for the UST Clean-up Statutes (CGS Sections 22a-449a-p).

The current UST Program Balance is INSUFFICIENT to meet all recommended claim reimbursements for the  April, June,  August, October, and December Review Board Meetings.

Due to the projected budget shortfall, the Governor and Legislature are still working out details regarding future disbursements.  DEP will post additional funding information here when it becomes available.
For further information please contact the UST Petroleum Clean-up Program at (860) 424-3370, fax at (860) 424-4061, e-mail the Program Coordinator or write to:
