Recycling At Home

"Things do not change, we change"

Recycling begins with you.  Not only is every Connecticut resident required by state law to recycle, but each town is required to provide recycling options to their residents.  Although municipalities must see to it that the mandated items are recycled, they are free to decide what collection method is best for their recycling program.  As well, they may chose to recycle additional types of materials beyond the state mandated ones, which is why your town may be collecting items that your friend's town is not.

Each town has a designated Recycling Contact Person.  You should call this person with any recycling question relevant to your pick-up schedule, recycling center hours, types of materials you can recycle, etc.  They can also help you with trash disposal questions.  DEP's "What Do I Do With...? webpage may help you decide how to recycle or dispose of that not-so-common item.
