Deer Check Stations

Because of scheduling changes that may occur, the Wildlife Division suggests that you call your intended check stations pre-season to verify their hours. Reminders IMPORTANT NOTICE: All deer harvested during the first four days (Wednesday, November 18, through Saturday, November 21) of the shotgun/rifle season (except landowner kills) MUST be checked at a vendor check station on the same day of harvest. Deer harvested during all other times (including archery, landowner, muzzleloader, and the remainder of the shotgun/rifle seasons) must be reported within 24 hours via the DEP's website or by calling 1-877-377-4868. Consult the DEP's website or the 2009 Connecticut Hunting and Trapping Guide (page 37) for information on new deer tagging regulations and procedures. Replacement antlerless and either-sex tags will be valid in deer management zones 11 and 12 (Private Land Zone Map). To obtain Replacement Tags, hunters must present their deer at Replacement Tag deer check stations. The listed hours apply only to the 2009 shotgun/rifle deer hunting season. The Antlerless Deer Tag is not valid in zone 4A (Ellington, Somers, Stafford, Tolland, Union, or Willington) during the private land shotgun/rifle and muzzleloader seasons.
