Fisheries Seasonal Job Opportunities

The Inland and Marine Fisheries Divisions have Seasonal Resource Assistant and Seasonal Maintainer positions available at several locations.  

The Seasonal Resource Assistant positions listed below are available for individuals interested in acquiring fisheries management related experience.  Work consists of field sampling, processing of fish samples in the lab, creel surveys, data entry and related computer tasks.  Most positions begin during April and May, some begin in November.  All positions last six months. Background in biology or environmental science is required.  Pay rates vary from $9.00 to $12.00 per hour depending on education and experience.

The Seasonal Maintainer positions listed below perform general maintenance including: loading stocking trucks; stocking trout in lakes and rivers across the state; spawning, feeding and transporting fish within the hatchery. The start dates for most positions are March 1, May 15 and Nov 15 and the positions last six months. No experience is required.

The following projects are based at the DEP Eastern District Headquarters in Marlborough (ED) and the Western District Field Office in Litchfield (WD).  Some night and weekend work is required.
