Educator Workshops

What do the Department of Environmental Protection's Environmental Education Workshops provide?
  • {Geology Workshop photo} Award-winning environmental curriculum materials designed for teachers and other educators working with students in pre-K through grade 12.
  • Hands-on, instructionally sound, easy-to-use and fun activities which are ideal for teaching science, math, social studies, language arts, physical education, health, art and music.
  • Materials that have been designed for diverse teaching and learning styles and are extensively tested and evaluated on an on-going basis.
  • Effective methods for teaching problem solving and decision-making; teaching students how to think, not what to think.
  • An international network of students, teachers, parents, community leaders, educational administrators, resource agencies and conservation groups.

How do you receive the materials, as well as practical hands-on training?

  • Activity guides for each of the programs are provided, {Owl Pellet Activity} free of charge, only to participants of the workshops.
  • Each workshop is approximately 6 hours in length and can be scheduled in one or two sessions.
  • Workshops can focus on a specific topic; for example, developing outdoor classrooms.  See the list of the many environmental education topics that are covered by the DEP's workshops.
  • Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) provided.
