Harvest the Rain (Norwich) - Sponsored by The Eastern Connecticut Conservation District
Learn how a rain garden can enhance your landscape while protecting water quality. Step by step instruction on how to plan and plant a rain garden and information on native plants suitable for rain garden planting.

19th Annual Shrub & Seedling Sale; Native Shrubs & Edibles! (Old Saybrook) - Sponsored by CT River Coastal Conservation District
For sale: a wide variety of one and 2-gallon native potted shrubs, ferns, grasses; bare root strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, red cedar, white spruce, Douglas fir and white pine. We will also offer potted grapes, highbush and lowbush blueberries, perennial flowers and herbs. This year we also have mountain laurel, white dogwood, bearberry, hydrangea, wintergreen, winterberry and much more!

Earth Day Family Camping (New Haven) - Sponsored by Common Ground
Camping at Common Ground is a great way to celebrate Earth Day!  Bring your own picnic dinner, roast marshmallows at the campfire, and participate in an optional guided night hike through West Rock. Making Conservation More Than a Luxury Concern: Ecosystem Services and Connecting to People (Storrs) - Sponsored by UConn's Edwin Way Teale Lecture Series on Nature and the Environment
Peter Kareiva, Director of Science for the Nature Conservancy, will discus how conservation will fail unless it’s better connected to people. Earth Fair is a day of family fun!  Enjoy live birds of prey, live snake demonstrations, friendly llamas and a miniature horse. Activities include crafts, a May Pole Dance, creating art from recycled materials and live music. There will be a bake sale and food booths along with many earth-friendly demonstrations and environmental exhibits.

Hamden Earth Day Celebration (Hamden) - Sponsored by The Town of Hamden
Hamden's Earth Day Celebration is a family-oriented event and features several dozen environmental exhibitors (including school exhibits) promoting earth friendly services, products, and organizations. Admission, shows and activities are free. Activities include: face painting, a wood-working project, decoupage water bottle vases, recycling games, a scavenger hunt (complete it and win a prize), and more!. Don't miss a special appearance by Dr. Mel Goldstein of News Channel 8 at Noon, T-Bone's Recycling Assembly Show at 11:00 am, Wind Over Wings Birds of Prey Environmental Education Program at 1:00 pm and the High School's Reptiles will be on display all day! Food vendors will be on-site for lunch, snacks and beverages.

Lebanon Earth Day 2010 (Lebanon) - Sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 58
Many Earth Day clean up projects will be happening around town. Everyone is encouraged to participate, including youth groups, scout troops and dens, sports teams, middle and high school clubs, adult groups, families and individuals. Each participant recieves a tree or shrub to take home. UConn Extension Master Gardeners will answer gardening questions.

Rock to Rock 2010! (New Haven) - Sponsored by Solar Youth, Common Ground, Friends of Edgewood, East Rock and Beaver Pond Parks, the City fo New Haven, and dozens of others.
ROCK TO ROCK is a city-wide cycling celebration and fundraiser for New Haven's environment. On Saturday, April 24, 2010, hundreds of cyclists will travel from West Rock to East Rock -- with tasty food, green competitions, great music, and lots of fun along the way. Celebrate Earth Day. New Hartford Earth Weekend Spring Cleanup (New Hartford) - Sponsored by New Hartford Land Trust, Town of New Hartford Conservation Commission, New Hartford Cub Scouts and more
Organized by the New Hartford Land Trust and the Town Conservation Commission, volunteers work in teams to clean up Land Trust and Town sites including hiking trails, open space preserves, conservation areas, parks, etc. Residents are also encouraged to get out and clean up their own neighborhoods!

Location:  Meet in parking lot behind New Hartford Town Hall, 530 Main Street.

"Wind over Wings" brings to us a BALD EAGLE, and other raptors. All of their birds are spectacular and the presentation includes many facts about the birds and how we can help preserve the environment, which we must share with these creatures. This is also the kickoff of the Branford Land Trust's 2010 Nature Explorer program.
