Connecticut Clean School Bus Program

{School Bus Picture} The Connecticut General Assembly enacted Public Act No. 07-4 Sections 16-19 (The Act) in an effort to reduce the exposure of children to diesel exhaust from school buses. The Act created a school bus emission reduction account that will be utilized to provide grants to school districts and municipalities to reimburse them for the purchase, installation, and warranty of verified emission control technology (ECT) and closed crankcase ventilation systems (CCVs). The Commissioner of Administrative Services (DAS), in consultation with the Commissioner of Environmental Protection, has been directed to develop procurement contracts for the purchase of ECT and CCVs. Municipalities and school districts will purchase ECT and CCVs from the state procurement contracts that are best suited for their school bus fleet.
