Connecticut's Management of Toxic Air Pollutants

Small Business Assistance Program

The Department established the Small Business Assistance Program in 1994. Many small businesses are affected by air toxics regulations due to emissions from their operations. Affected small businesses include: autobody repair shops, dry cleaners, furniture manufacturers, gasoline stations, and print shops. Many small businesses lack the technical expertise or the financial means to comply with applicable air quality regulations, including air toxics regulations. This program provides information and assistance to small businesses to help educate them about regulatory requirements and ensure a higher rate of timely compliance than would otherwise be obtained. The Department has conducted workshops for dry cleaners, autobody shops, wood furniture manufacturers and Stage II Vapor Recovery for gasoline stations, to help these sources reduce pollution and comply with regulations.
