NEW WEBSITE GRANT OPPORTUNITY
The Statewide Citizen Corps Council passed a motion at the July 18, 2013 meeting to allow a $300 Special Grant to any CERT team wishing to establish a website of their own.
To apply: complete the State Citizen Grant application (see link above) and process through the normal channels your team uses. Mark the grant "special grant" and submit between October 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014. The grant money must be spent no later that June 30, 2014 or it will be cancelled automatically.

2013 Citizen Corps Awards
Connecticut Community Preparedness Hero Award
David, a member of the Torrington CERT Team, is the first recipient of the Citizen
Corps "Connecticut Community Preparedness Hero Award" for administering CPR to a co-worker at Hoffman Automotive for over 6 minutes and saving his life on August 1, 2013.
Citizen Corps Service Award
Jeff was presented with the Citizen Corps Servise award for developing the Regional Emergency Canteen Service in the Capitol Region - DEMHS Region 3.
DESPP/DEMHS Deputy Commissioner, William Shea, had the distinct pleasure in presenting the awards to these two outstanding volunteers at the annual Connecticut Statewide Citizen Corps Conference in Westbrook on September 4, 2013.
