Inland Wetlands and Watercourses

{Photographs of inland wetlands}
Connecticut has a long history of protecting its water and land resources. In 1972, the state legislature enacted the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Act (IWWA, sections 22a-36 through 22a-45 of the General Statutes of Connecticut), which requires the regulation of activities affecting the wetlands and watercourses of our state. The Inland Wetlands Management Section of the Connecticut DEEP provides training, regulatory, and technical assistance to Connecticut’s Municipal Inland Wetlands Agencies.  General background information  is provided here to Connecticut’s citizens regarding inland wetland and watercourse management and protection.
