Incorporated in the Connecticut state park system in 2001, Salt Rock is spread over 149 wooded acres in two parcels in rural eastern Connecticut. Unique to Connecticut park system, Salt Rock is the only State Campground with many amenities of a modern campground. The Campground offers 71 tent and recreational vehicle sites, some of which have utilities. There are also showers, restrooms, two in-ground swimming pools (which open in mid-June), and a dumping station. |
| Sitting on what was once country farmland, the campground abuts, and has access to, over one mile of the pristine, heavily wooded Shetucket River waterfront. Fishing is available by permit along the Shetucket River. Additionally, a mile of railroad divides the campground area from the river. Once nearly abandoned, the rail line now is seeing an increase in active railroad traffic. |
|
Because of its eastern Connecticut location, the campground is near many tourism destinations including Mystic and New London attractions |
