The main goal of the Pesticide Management Program is to prevent adverse human health or environmental effects from the misuse of pesticides.

Pesticide management programs include:

• Registration of pesticides - controls the pesticide products being used in the state. 

• Certification of pesticide applicators and enforcement of  pesticide use as specified in directions on labels  - ensures that pesticides are used properly. 
  

• Integrated pest management (IPM)  - IPM is promoted as a method to achieve high quality pest control while reducing pesticide impacts. 
  

• Permit programs for aerial and aquatic pesticide applications
