Comments Received Regarding the Town of New Fairfield's Proposal to Apply Pesticides to Candlewood Lake
While the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has not yet received an aquatic permit application, we have been receiving comments regarding the town of New Fairfield's proposal to apply diquat to control Eurasian watermilfoil and copper sulfate to control cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) at Candlewood Lake. The town of New Fairfield will be holding a public informational meeting on March 2, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. This meeting will be held at Meetinghouse Hill School, 24 Gillotti Rd, New Fairfield, CT.
DEEP will continue to receive comments via e-mail
only, until two weeks after the application is received. When received, the application and date of receipt will be posted on this website.
NOTE: Please be aware that all e-mails received by DEEP are subject to the Freedom of Information Act (section 1-210 of the Connecticut General Statutes). All e-mails received regarding the proposed pesticide treatment at Candlewood Lake will become a public record and will be posted for public review.
