DEEP: Connecticut Geological Survey News

The Geological Society of CT (GSC) annual meeting will be held Friday November 21, 2014 at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. In addition to opportunities to meet and discuss your interests in CT Geology with other GSC members, the annual meeting will feature remarks from Commissioner Robert Klee (Department of Energy and Environmental Protection) and a presentation by Dr. Gary Robbins (University of Connecticut) entitled Connecticut’s Groundwater: The Gold Beneath Our Feet.  Register here.

We are pleased to announce the opening of a new State Geological Survey Office at the University of Connecticut Main Campus, Storrs.  The goal of the new office is to engage students in collaborative research initiatives in applied geologic and environmental research in Connecticut. The Survey office at UConn is located at the Water Resources Field Station, in the Horsebarn Hill Sciences Complex.

We have NEW Earth Science Week educational materials available to educators in grades K-12.
These materials include posters, a DVD movie, calendar of classroom activities, a geologic time scale ruler, and loads of ideas!  Most of the materials are middle school to high school level, and are useful all year long.
