Description:  The Osborne Homestead Museum, 500 Hawthorne Avenue, Derby is a beautiful historic house that celebrates the life and times of a remarkable woman in business, agriculture, conservation and philanthropy.  Each year thousands of visitors enjoy guided tours of the museum.  This year the museum will offer additional programs, such as hands-on activities, guided historical hikes of the surrounding property, and special tours geared for families and children.  The museum is adjacent to the Kellogg Environmental Center, an environmental education facility that offers a full-range of environmental programming, including summer programs for children.
 
Duties:  Lead guided tours of the Osborne Homestead Museum; lead special programs for families, children, and other groups visiting the Museum; assist with museum projects, such as updating the museum inventory records; assist with the general maintenance of the museum and its collections; staff the Museum and Center for special events
 
Minimum Age:  18
 
Qualifications:  Preferred candidate will have: experience as an educator or tour guide; experience working with volunteers and the public; background in environmental studies and/or American history; ability to work independently
 
Hours:  Thursday - Sunday 25-30 hours per week. Must be flexible to occasionally shift hours to cover evening programs and holiday schedule.  Position begins on April 28, and ends December 21.
 
Rate of Pay:  Pay starts at $10.10/hr.
