DEEP: Fish Geo-"Catching"

Geo-"Catching"

This activity is to
catch the featured
fish at each of the
official locations.
{Just for YOUth Text}   {Just for YOUth Logo}

Fish Geo-"Catching" encourages YOUth anglers to experience a variety of fishing locations throughout Connecticut and expand their angling knowledge.

In this activity passport holders must do 2 things:
  • Visit as many of the Official Geo-"Catching" locations as possible; and
  • Catch the featured fish.
When successful:
  • Take a photo showing the fish and the YOUth angler with a recognizable landmark at the waterbody.  The fish should be next to a ruler to show its length if you think it may be large enough to qualify for a Trophy Fish Award.
  • Good photo opportunity locations would include boat ramp signage, DEEP fishing information posters, or State Park signage.
  • Submit your photo and Conservation ID number to: DEEP, Inland Fisheries Division, 79 Elm Street Hartford, CT 06106, or email this information to: deep.inland.fisheries@ct.gov.
Don't worry, if you catch a different type of fish, your catch can still count towards the Fishing Challenge activity.

We will keep a record of who has caught which fishes and where they were caught.  Periodic updates will be posted on this web page as well as on the CT Fish and Wildlife Facebook page. Beginning in 2014, there will also be an annual acknowledgement ceremony to recognize successful participants as part of the Annual Trophy Fish Award Ceremony held each February.
Please contact the Inland Fisheries Office with any questions.
