Chevrolet Volt

2016 CHEAPR EV of the Year Award

The Chevrolet Volt and The Chevrolet Dealers of Connecticut were awarded the Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate (CHEAPR) Electric Vehicle Champion Award for the 2016 CHEAPR EV of the Year.

Since the launch of CHEAPR in May 2015, 327 Volts have received rebates - nearly double that of the second place EV. The second generation Volt has a 53-mile rated electric-only range. Nearly 90 percent of all trips can be made solely on electricity as the average driver travels no more than 40 miles per day.

"With a total range of up to 420 miles, the Volt offers the freedom to drive anywhere," Megan Scranton, Dealer Principle of Scranton Motors in Vernon, said. "Chevy continues to innovate, and we will soon see the new Chevy Bolt, recently named 2017 Motor Trend Car of the Year with a 238-mile all-electric range, on show room floors in Connecticut."

The CHEAPR program provides a cash rebate for residents, businesses, and municipalities who purchase or lease a battery electric, fuel cell, or plug-in hybrid vehicle. Fuel cell powered EVs receive the largest rebate of $5,000, while plug-in hybrid and full battery electric EVs receive incentives ranging from $750 to $3,000, based on battery size.

DEEP and CARA presented the award on November 18, 2016 at the 2016 Connecticut International Auto Show.

Dealer Award

Stevens Ford was awarded the Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate (CHEAPR) Electric Vehicle Champion Award for selling more electric vehicles (EVs) than any other dealer in the state under the CHEAPR program.

The CHEAPR program offers rebates of up to $5,000 for Connecticut residents who purchase or lease a new eligible battery electric, fuel cell electric, or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

Stevens Ford, located in Milford Connecticut, put 56 EVs on Connecticut's roads since May 2015. “Stevens Ford has seized the initiative and is taking every opportunity to inform its customers of the advantages offed by EVs,” said James Fleming, President of the Connecticut Automobile Retailers Association (CARA). “Their ability to dramatically increase the sale or lease of EVs shows that Connecticut residents are ready to be part of the shift to cleaner and more efficient vehicles for the future.”

DEEP and CARA presented the award on June 9, 2016 at Stevens Ford in Milford, CT.
