Quota Managed Species Meeting
November 22, 2017
The meeting of seafood dealers and commercial fishermen that harvest quota-managed species originally scheduled for 3 pm, Monday, December 4th has been moved up to 2 pm at the DEEP Marine Headquarters, Boating Education Center (rear building). The initial meeting time would have overlapped with a New England Fishery Management Council Program Review meeting scheduled for 5 pm on that same day. Moving the meeting time up one hour will provide fishermen and seafood dealers the opportunity to attend both meetings.
The purpose of the quota managed species meeting is to receive input on strategies to manage the 2018 commercial quotas, to share access equitably among endorsement holders by season, optimize economic returns, and to prevent fishery closures that could lead to higher discards of fish.
