Notice of Intent to Issue a
Beneficial Use Determination Authorization to
Urban Mining CT, LLC for the reuse of post-consumer glass
 

The Commissioner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes Section 22a-209f, hereby gives notice of intent to issue a Beneficial Use Determination Authorization to Urban Mining CT, LLC (“the applicant”) for the processing of post-consumer glass based on Application No. 201906704 received on May 24, 2019.
 
The Beneficial Use Determination Authorization will allow the Applicant to process post-consumer glass at its facility located at 105 Breault Road in Beacon Falls, Connecticut. The processed post-consumer glass will be incorporated into various products, including pozzolan for use in the manufacturing of concrete; industrial fillers in paints, coatings, adhesives, sealants, inks, polymers, plastics and other materials; abrasive media; and flint cullet to be used by bottle manufacturers. This Beneficial Use Determination Authorization will remain in effect for a period of 10 years following its issuance.

Copies of the application and the draft Beneficial Use Determination Authorization are available for inspection at the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Bureau of Materials Management and Compliance Assurance, Waste Engineering and Enforcement Division, 79 Elm Street, Hartford, CT from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and any other times by appointment. The draft Beneficial Use Determination Authorization may also be viewed on the Department’s website at www.ct.gov/deep. Copies may also be obtained by contacting the Department at (860) 424-3366.
 
All interested persons are invited to express their views on the intent to issue the Beneficial Use Determination Authorization. Written comments should be directed to Robert C.
