Spring Vacation Week at Dinosaur State Park, Rocky Hill
Program Dates are April 12-13 and April 15-20, 2014
(Museum closed Monday, April 14)
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has announced that Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill will sponsor a series of programs for families during April school vacation week.   Visitors may also view 600 early Jurassic dinosaur footprints under the dome along with museum exhibits. 
The programs include:
  • View a Film:  Three different films are shown each day.  There are seven show times. 
  • Make a Craft:   Visitors can make dinosaur-related craft to take home --
  • Naturalist Program -- Throughout the day animal demonstrations, a track talk and an animal program or nature walk will be offered.
Special Program

Thursday April 17 at 1:00 p.m.  Massachusetts Birds of Prey
will present a live show featuring a variety of raptors including an eagle.  Seating is limited. Tickets will be available with admission on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the show.  This 45-minute show is recommended for ages 5 and up. 
Dinosaur State Park is open Tuesday – Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is located at 400 West Street, Rocky Hill.  Visitors can visit a newly renovated Discovery Room and Bookshop.

Inside the room visitors will enjoy a Connecticut Rocks and Minerals exhibit, an interactive Connecticut Geologic Map, an Investigation Station, a bird-sound station, an animal skull display and dozens of drawers filled with fossils and Connecticut minerals.
The store has a wide variety of Natural History books for adults and children, including our own park book.  We have an excellent selection of dinosaur models, natural stone and amber jewelry.  There are toys, puzzles, dig kits and stuffed animals for young visitors.  We also have fossils and geologic specimens for the more serious collector.

Visitors can hike 2 ˝ miles of graveled trails – open 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and enjoy their lunch in the Park’s extensive picnic area.  No pets or bicycles are permitted on the trails. 
Mining area (extra fee) will open the first weekend in April – weather permitting.
