DEEP Announces Delay in Opening the Lake Lillinonah State Boat Launch in Bridgewater

Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that there will be a delay in re-opening the state boat launch located on Lake Lillinonah in Bridgewater.  The launch was closed for extensive renovations on Labor Day and was anticipated to re-open on December 31, 2013. Unfortunately, the recent arrival of very cold weather has prevented the paving from being completed.   The new opening date is the first day of fishing season, Saturday, April 19, 2014.

The completed launch will be a state-of-the-art, handicapped accessible design and will include a two lane, grooved, concrete slab ramp with concrete pavers to prevent erosion; a paved and line striped parking lot, travel way, and turning area to provide improved traffic flow and safe pedestrian access to the ramp.  The launch will be ADA accessible, with a floating dock system to facilitate the safe and efficient launching and retrieval of boats; a solar powered street light to assist boaters at night; a trench drain to catch and filter runoff into the lake; and a portable toilet platform and screen.
