DEEP EnCon Police Make Arrests Stemming from Incident at Dennis Hill State Park, Norfolk
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police made two arrests Sunday stemming from an alleged assault that occurred at Dennis Hill State Park, Norfolk. Arrested were Dawn M. Gillotti, 43, Torrington and Shamar I. Atwater, 29, Waterbury. Ms. Gillotti was charged with Illegal Possession of Heroin with Intent to Sell/Distribute and Illegal Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with Intent to Conceal. Mr. Atwater was charged with Breach of Peace, Assault 3rd Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Illegal Possession of Heroin with Intent to Sell/Distribute, and Illegal Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with Intent to Conceal.
On Sunday afternoon, September 22nd, DEEP EnCon Police were called to Dennis Hill State Park, Norfolk to investigate the report of an alleged assault. Upon arrival, DEEP EnCon Police interviewed Ms. Gillotti who claimed that Mr. Atwater had physically assaulted her and then fled the scene. While questioning Ms. Gillotti, EnCon Police discovered that she was in possession of approximately 8 grams of what appeared to be heroin along with packaging material consistent with narcotics distribution. Ms. Gillotti was placed under arrest and transported to Connecticut State Police Troop L where she was processed. Ms. Gillotti was held on $50,000 bond and will be arraigned in Bantam Superior Court today, September 23rd.
Mr. Atwater was later located at his place of residence in Torrington and was taken into custody by DEEP EnCon Police with the assistance of Torrington Police. Mr. Atwater was held on a $100,000 bond and will also be arraigned in Bantam Superior Court today, September 23rd.
