Winter Walk at Putnam Memorial State Park, Redding
Local historian, Dan Cruson, leads walk through historic Revolutionary War Camp
The Friends and Neighbors of Putnam Memorial State Park and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection will sponsor the Annual Winter Walk on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Putnam Memorial State Park, Redding.
The Visitor Center opens at 10:00 am followed by a 45-minute Winter Walk led by local historian, Dan Cruson, at 11:00 am. Mr. Cruson will describe details of the winter encampment which took place during the Revolutionary War at the park. Re-enactment soldiers will accompany the group.
Putnam Memorial State Park is located at the intersection of Route 107 and Route 58 in Redding, on the site of the Winter Encampment of General Israel Putnam’s Continental troops from December 1778 – May 1779. The park is dedicated to the role they played in the Revolutionary War in helping secure America’s independence.
