DEEP Identifies Brooklyn Man Pronounced Dead After Being Taken From Waters of Quaddick Lake
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today identified the man who was pronounced dead Tuesday evening after being taken from the waters of Quaddick Lake, Thompson, as Michael A. Surrell, 34, of Brooklyn, Conn.
DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police said Surrell was pronounced dead Tuesday at around 6:45 p.m. at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam. He had been transported to the hospital by a local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) unit.
Witnesses told EnCon Police that Surrell had entered Quaddick Lake from private property along the shore around 6 p.m. and soon after appeared to be struggling in the water. Bystanders took him from the lake and called EMS, which initiated CPR and transported Surrell to the hospital.
The fatality is under investigation by EnCon Police.
