Connecticut Fire Crew Returns Home From Virginia

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced that the members of Connecticut’s fire crew are returning home to Connecticut today with a planned arrival time of approximately 5:45 p.m.(crew is travelling by bus—traffic will influence their arrival time) at Eastern District Headquarters in Marlborough.

The twenty member crew (11 DEEP employees and nine private-sector firefighters) left Connecticut on July 1 and were sent to George Washington National Forest in Virginia.  The fire they were fighting was approximately 1200 acres.  The fire is now contained or out and crews are being sent home.

Connecticut’s crew members received excellent reviews from the US Forest Service for their work.
