2013 STATE PARK CAMPING AREAS

NEW FOR 2013: A limited number of sites are available for long term rental (LTR) at Hammonasset Beach SP and Rocky Neck SP from May 24, 2013 until Labor Day 2013. You must reserve at least 22 consecutive nights for these sites. You can reserve up to 90 consecutive days. Fee is $30.00 per night for CT residents and $45.00 per night for non-CT residents. On May 16, 2013 the sites will return to the standard prices and stay rules.

 
BLACK ROCK STATE PARK
Black Rock Campground is open for the 2013 season from April 19 through May 23 (weekends only) and May 24 through September 2 (daily). Walk-ins only allowed September 3- September 30.
DEVIL'S HOPYARD STATE PARK
Devil's Hopyard Campground is open for the 2013 season from April 19 through September 2 daily). Walk-ins only allowed  September 3 - September 30.
  • 366 Hopyard Road, East Haddam
  • 21 wooded sites near scenic waterfall. Stream fishing, no swimming. No pets. Reservations accepted April 20 through Labor Day.
  • $14/night/campsite for CT residents.  There is a Processing Fee for reservations.
  • $24/night/campsite for non-CT residents.  There is a Processing Fee for reservations.

HAMMONASSET BEACH STATE PARK (Long Term Rental)
The Hammonasset Beach Campground is open for the 2013 season from May 17 through October 14 (daily). Reservations are available for periods of stay from Memorial Day weekend May 24 through October 14. Walkins only from May 17-May 23.

  • William F. Miller Campground. 558 open sites. Concession, dumping station, bathrooms, showers. Salt water swimming and fishing. Individual fireplaces not provided. No pets.

HOPEVILLE POND STATE PARK
Hopeville Pond Campground is open for the 2013 season from May 24 through September 2 (daily). The camping season begins at 7:00 am Friday morning, April 19 and ends September 30. Walk-ins only allowed April 19 - May 23 and September 3 - September 30.

  • 80 wooded sites near pond. Concession, dumping station, bathrooms, showers. Fishing, swimming. No pets.

HOUSATONIC MEADOWS STATE PARK
The Housatonic Meadows Campground is open for the 2013 season from May 17 - May 18, then reopening May 24 through September 2. Walk-ins only allowed September 3 - September 30.

  • 61 sites in rustic setting near Housatonic River. Dumping station, bathrooms, showers. No swimming. No pets.
  • Alcohol-free campground.  Please do not bring alcoholic beverages.

KETTLETOWN STATE PARK
Kettletown Campground is open for the 2013 season on May 17, closing at noon on May 19,  then reopening May 24 through September 2 (daily).  Walk-ins only allowed September 3 - Sept 30.

  • 61 partly wooded and open sites. Dumping station, bathrooms, showers, fishing, swimming. Trailers and RV's may not exceed 28' in length. No pets.

LAKE WARAMAUG STATE PARK
Lake Waramaug Campground is open for the season from May 24- September 2 (daily). Walk-ins only allowed  September 3 - September 30. It will be open the weekend of Friday, May 17 and will close at noon on May 19.
MACEDONIA BROOK STATE PARK
Macedonia Brook Campground is open for the season from April 19 through September 2 (daily). Walk-ins only allowed September 3 - September 30.
  • 159 Macedonia Brook Road, Kent
  • 51 sites in rustic setting. Stream fishing, excellent hiking, no swimming. No pets. Reservations accepted April 20 through Labor Day.

SALT ROCK CAMPGROUND
The Salt Rock Campground is open for the 2013 season from May 24 through September 2 (daily). Walk-ins only allowed May 17 - May 23 and September 4 - September 30.
  • 173 Scotland Road (Rte. 97), Baltic, 06330
  • Exit 83 off I-395.  Go left, follow Rte. 97 through Baltic.  2 miles north on the left, just past Salt Rock Road.
  • 71 tent and recreational vehicle (RV) sites. Utilities to some sites, bathroom, dumping station, showers, in-ground swimming pool (opens mid June).
  • Two pets/site permitted.
  • Fishing by permit along the Shetucket River with over one mile of waterfront access.  Permits may be obtained at the Salt Rock State Campground office.
  • Nightly Rates for CT residents:
    • $33/night for a tent site
    • $37/night for a site with electricity and water
    • $40/night for a site with electricity, water, and sewer
      plus a Processing Fee
    • Rates for non-CT residents are $45, $48, and $52 per night plus a Processing Fee.

AMERICAN LEGION STATE FOREST
The Austin Hawes Campground is open for the season from April 21 through October 14 (daily). NO walk-ins. 
  • West River Road, Pleasant Valley
  • Austin F. Hawes Memorial Campground, midway between Pleasant Valley and Riverton on West River Road. 30 sites in pine woods. Dumping station, bathrooms, showers, fishing. No swimming. One pet/site permitted. Reservations accepted April 21 through Columbus Day.

PACHAUG STATE FOREST
The Green Falls Campground is open for the 2013 season from April 19 through September 30 (daily). The Mt. Misery Campground is open from April 19 through January 1, 2014 (daily).

  • After the Columbus Day weekend no reservations are needed; all sites at Pachaug State Forest are available on a first come, first served basis, free of charge.
  • The campgrounds are located near State lands that are open to hunting hunting symbol
  • Two camping areas:
  • Green Falls Campground, off Route 138, 3 miles east of Voluntown. 18 wooded sites. Pond fishing, swimming. One pet/site permitted.
    • $17/night/campsite for CT residents
    • $27/night/campsite for non-CT residents

HORSE CAMP AREAS
The following campgrounds have been designed exclusively for equestrian use. They open for camping in 2012 on April 20 and close on Thanksgiving. All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Camping is offered for riders who can provide their own mounts.  Horse rentals are not available.
NATCHAUG STATE FOREST
  • Pilfershire Road, Eastford
  • Silvermine Horse Camp. 15 wooded sites. Basic facilities only - campers are responsible for cleaning sites and carrying out all trash. Pet permitted. No fee.
