Holiday Tours from Nov. 29 to Dec. 21

This holiday season Gillette Castle will be adorned for the William Gillette Holiday Celebration and open for tours from Nov. 29 through Dec. 21. Each room of the castle will be decorated with holiday ornaments.

Gillette Castle State Park, located at 67 River Road in East Haddam, was William Gillette’s 184 acre estate known as the Seventh Sister, the focal point of which was his 24 room house reminiscent of a medieval castle. The State of Connecticut acquired the property in 1943 and established Gillette Castle State Park.

The Castle will be open for the holidays from November 29 through December 21, Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Museum docents will provide special holiday guided tours. On the Friday evenings of December 5 and 12, the castle will present "Candlelight Tours," highlighting the beauty of the castle when it is lit up at night from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

The Castle will also be open on Monday, December 29 and Tuesday, December 30 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. for school vacation.

Castle entrance is $5 for adults and children 13 and over, $2 for children ages 6-12, and FREE for children ages 5 and under. The concession stand at the park will be open. Those who purchase an admission ticket to the castle will receive discounted coupons for the concession stand. Adults will receive a $2 discounted coupon and children under 12 will receive a $1 discounted coupon. Discounted coupons are redeemable only on meal orders.

Musical performances will also be held on the grounds throughout the season. Scheduled performances include:

    2:00 pm – Chancel handbell Choir
    3:00 pm – Stafford High School Madrigal Singers
  • Sunday, December 21
    11:30, 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 pm – Magical Lantern
    Members are $6 and kids 5-12 are $3
    Non-members are $10 and kids 5-12 are $5.
    Kids under five are free!
