Notice of Recreational Lobstering Seminar

The Connecticut ENCON Police and the Marine Fisheries Division will be hosting an informational seminar for recreational lobster fishermen on Saturday, April 6, 2013. The following topics will be covered:

      - lobster pots (markings, trap tags, restrictions)

      - legally setting and tending lobster pots in CT water

      - measuring lobsters

      - identification of egg-bearing and v-notched female lobsters

      - scuba diving for lobsters

      - licensing and reporting requirements

      - reporting complaints and violations

      - incidental catches (crabs, fish)

      - questions about the fishery

      - management measures in 2013

The seminar will be held in the back building of Marine District Headquarters in Old Lyme on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Class size is limited, please call DEEP Law Enforcement at (860) 434-9840, Monday Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm to reserve a seat.

Directions to Marine Headquarters:

From I-95 North: Take exit 70. At the end of the exit take a right onto Rte 156 eastbound. Ferry Road will be your second right. Follow to the end. The seminar will be held in the Classroom building at the back of the property.

From I-95 South: Take exit 70. At the end of the exit, go straight onto Halls Road. Follow to the end and take a left onto Rte 156 eastbound. Go through 2 traffic lights. Ferry Road will be your second right. Follow to the end. The seminar will be held in the Classroom building at the back of the property.
