Notice to Recreational Summer Flounder FishermenDeclaration of Regulation Change

Under authority of Section 26-159a of the Connecticut General Statutes and Section 26-159a-22 of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies, the Commissioner of Environmental Protection is authorized to establish or adjust, by declaration, closed seasons, length limits, creel limits, trip limits and trip limit adjustment values in order to comply with interstate fishery management plans adopted by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. Such changes are implemented after a 10-day notice period.

In accordance with the aforementioned authority, the following recreational fishing regulations will be effective on April 2, 2007.

The creel limit for summer flounder is reduced from 6 fish to 5 fish and the open season is April 30 through September 5 both dates included. The minimum length remains unchanged at 18 inches.

A public hearing will be held within the next four months to receive comment and adopt final regulations regarding these changes or alternatives that have equivalent or greater conservation value.
