The Commissioner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (“DEEP”) hereby gives notice that a tentative determination has been reached to approve the following application for the certification for activities, including but not limited to the construction or operation of facilities, which may result in any discharge into the waters of the state associated with drainage system improvements and the removal of sediments in Coppermine Brook.

The proposed activity includes the following:  Removal of an existing berm in Coppermine Brook downstream of Stevens Street; removal of accumulated sediments beneath the Stevens Street bridge; installation of streambank protection downstream of Stevens Street; conducting channel maintenance by removing sediment point bars and accumulated woody debris jams; and completing drainage improvements in the vicinity of Richard Court, and will affect Coppermine Brook and associated wetlands.
The application has been evaluated for compliance with the applicable provisions of sections 301, 302, 303, 306 and 307 of the Act and the Water Quality Standards of the State of Connecticut adopted pursuant to Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies Sections 22a-426-1 to 22a-426-9.
