4/28/2016EPA Installs New "Village Green" Air Monitoring Bench at Connecticut Science Center in Hartford
  EPA today unveiled a new, state-of-the-art tool to protect people's health and provide real-time air quality data to people, in the form of a "Village Green Station" - a wind- and solar-powered air monitoring bench that has been installed in the park abutting the Connecticut Science Center in downtown Hartford.

  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced that State Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police today arrested Mark Zanawich, DOB 06/24/1953, on charges of illegal turkey hunting from a hunting blind on Bloomfield Game Club property, Terry Plains Road, Bloomfield.

4/19/2016DEEP Reminds State Residents of Spring Fire Danger – Forest Fire Danger Level is High, Red Flag Warning for all Connecticut Today
  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced today that the Forest Fire Danger Level is HIGH and the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for all of Connecticut from noon - 8:00 p.m. and as a result all open burning permits are suspended even if a resident has a permit from the local open burning official.

  Connecticut and eight other states have sent a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) urging immediate action to require nine upwind states to address air pollution generated within their borders that causes air quality and public health issues in downwind states.

  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) reminds all boaters that even though the air temperatures are rising, the State’s waters are still in the mid to upper 40’s meaning sudden immersion into the water this cold can cause serious injury or death due to the shock of being immersed or from hypothermia for longer exposure.
