  Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Gina McCarthy, and students from the Barnum School, today stocked trout at Bunnells Pond in Bridgeport. Today’s stocking adds to the final preparation for Opening Day of trout fishing season on Saturday, April 15.

  Opening Day of the Trout Fishing Season is Saturday, April 15th and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has the state’s rivers, streams, lakes and ponds stocked and ready. Approximately 412,000 trout have already been released this spring and are awaiting Opening Day anglers. DEP’s spring trout stocking effort began in late February and will continue through the end of May.

  As a result of the overwhelming response to "The Great Park Pursuit," the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will be closing game registration early Monday morning, April 10. The game is part of the "No Child Left Inside" campaign – a statewide initiative designed to raise awareness for state parks and forests and build enthusiasm for the outdoors among children.
4/7/2006Connecticut DEP Reminds Residents Swimming and Alcohol are Prohibited at Mansfield Hollow State Park and Diana’s Pool on the Natchaug River
  The State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today reminded state residents that swimming is prohibited in Mansfield Hollow State Park due to the park’s proximity to a public drinking supply, the Willimantic Reservoir. The DEP also reminded residents that alcohol is prohibited in Mansfield Hollow (as it is in most state parks) and that swimming and alcohol are also prohibited at Diana’s Pool along the Natchaug River.

  The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announces a series of special programs scheduled for school vacation week, April 18 – 21, 2006 at Dinosaur State Park, Rocky Hill. The park, which is open all year, has 500 Early Jurassic dinosaur footprints on display along with a series of related exhibits, a 100-seat theater, which on weekends and during school vacations offers dinosaur related films for all ages throughout the day, and a bookstore that features many unique titles, toys and jewelry.
