  Effective January 1, 2010, the minimum carapace length of 3-3/8 inches is required for all lobsters taken from Lobster Management Area 6.

  Effective 0001 hours, Saturday, November 14, 2009, the Connecticut possession limit for the commercial harvest of summer flounder will be reduced to 75 pounds. Effective 0001 hours, Saturday, November 14, 2009, the Connecticut possession limit for the commercial harvest of black sea bass will be reduced to zero pounds for all gear types. (N09-28)

  Effective 0001 hours, Sunday, September 7, 2009, the commercial spiny dogfish fishery for the northern states is closed. Effective 0001 hours, Thursday, October 1, 2009, the Connecticut possession limit for the commercial harvest of bluefish is increased from 500 to 1,000 pounds. The Connecticut possession limit for the commercial harvest of scup will remain zero pounds for all gear types through October 31. (N09-25)

9/16/2009ASMFC Hearing on American Shad, Scup and Striped Bass Interstate Fishery Management Plan Amendments
  The DEP Marine Fisheries Division is hosting a Public Hearing of the Atlantic State Marine Fisheries Commission to take public comment on draft amendments to fishery management plans governing American shad, scup and striped bass. (N09-23)

  Addendum XI to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's Interstate Fishery Management Plan for American Lobster requires that the minimum carapace length in Long Island Sound be increased by 1/16 inch to 3-3/8 inches effective January 1, 2010. (N09-22)

  The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today announced that a saltwater fishing license, now required by state law to fish in Long Island Sound, can be conveniently purchased online through the DEP Web site.

6/11/2009Connecticut Marine Waters Fishing License: Basic Facts
  Effective June 15, 2009, a Marine Waters Fishing License is required of anyone, age 16 and over, fishing in the Marine District from shore or a private vessel or landing marine fish in Connecticut taken from outside Connecticut waters. Passengers fishing on a Connecticut registered party or charter fishing vessel are exempt from the Marine Waters Fishing License requirement. (N09-14)
