10/17/2008Commercial Scup Fishery Possession Limit Changes
  Effective November 1, 2008, there will be a Department regulation change pertaining to scup. Also, effective November 1, 2008, the Connecticut possession limit for commercial harvest of summer flounder will be increased. (N08-25)
9/30/2008Notice to Trawl Fishermen Tautog (Blackfish) Trip Limit
  The commercial tautog fishery will reopen on October 15, 2008. At that time the possession limit for the trawl fishery will be 75 fish. The fishery will remain open at this limit through December 6, 2008, or until further notification. (N08-23)
9/25/2008Commercial Fisheries Possession Limit Adjustments
  Effective 0001 hours, Monday, September 29, 2008, the commercial spiny dogfish fishery for the northern states is closed. Effective 0001 hours, Wednesday, October 1, 2008, the Connecticut possession limit for the commercial harvest of bluefish is increased from 500 to 1,000 pounds. Effective 0001 hours, Wednesday, October 1, 2008, the Connecticut possession limit for the commercial harvest of black sea bass for all gear types excluding lobster pots is increased to 300 pounds. 3/18/2008Lobster V-Notch Restoration Update
  November 2007 marked the official start of the Lobster Restoration Program for Long Island Sound. This program was funded by the Connecticut General Assembly in the amount of $1.0 million and is intended to help restore the population of lobsters in Long Island Sound while providing economic assistance to lobstermen who volunteer to participate in the program.   The landing limit for the commercial harvest of scup is 30,000 pounds per two-week period per license holder, regardless of where landed, until 80% of the coast wide "Winter I" scup quota is landed, at which time the trip limit will be 1,000 pounds. (N08-03)

  This notice is a reminder to seafood dealers, wholesalers, shippers and retailers (including restaurants) that it is illegal in Connecticut to buy, sell, give away, offer for sale or possess, regardless where taken, any lobster with a carapace (body shell) less than 3-1/16 inces in length.
