In accordance with federal and state regulations and DDS policy, investigators must obtain approval through the  Office of the Commissioner Institutional Review Board (IRB) for their research proposals.

This applies to all DDS employees, DDS contractors or their staff, and other non-DDS researchers (e.g., faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduate students) who

All studies involving human subjects or records pertaining to them should be assumed to require IRB review until determined otherwise.
