FOOD RECALL ADVISORY
The State of CT Department of Public Health, Food Protection Program announced on December 19, 2012 the following food recall:
Ocean Beauty Seafoods LLC is voluntarily recalling 371 cases of ready-to-eat cold smoked salmon products because of possible contamination by Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Anyone who is concerned about a possible health problem or illness should contact a healthcare provider immediately. The recalled products, "Nathanís Brand 3oz Cold Smoked Atlantic Salmon" (Product of Chile) and "LASCCO Cold Smoked Nova Atlantic Salmon 4 oz" (Product of Chile) were distributed to Stop and Shop locations within CT from 11/20/2012 through 12/12/2012.
